Today, August 8, 2025, would have been Rabbi Gendler’s 97th birthday. As I’m sure many people can relate, I think of him often. In uncertain times, when I find myself afraid to speak up, I’m reminded of his strength and bravery to say what he felt needed to be said and to do what he felt needed to be done. May we all have the courage that Everett did – to live the life that he wanted, continuously working to make the world a better place. May his memory be a blessing to all of us who had the honor of knowing him.
