Beth Am Synagogue’s Coming-of-Age Education Initiative will develop community partnerships and curriculum for after-school programming that will address the opportunities and challenges of coming-of-age for elementary and middle-school children in the congregation’s Jewish Discovery Lab supplementary education program and peers in Reservoir Hill and adjoining neighborhoods. The project will link children, parents, and educators from Beth Am and Reservoir Hill, to draw on Jewish and African-American traditions to strengthen both communities’ ability to prepare their young people to make healthy and constructive choices.
