Eden Village Camp’s Gendler Grapevine Project called T.I.R.E. (Tire Inflation for the Retrieval of Energy) uses a solar-powered generator and air compressor to inflate the car tires of those visiting the camp with the goal of improving gas mileage.

Eden Village Camp staff inflating tires

Located in Putnam Valley, NY, Eden Village Camp implemented the T.I.R.E. on closing day of the first session and provided the service when weather was clear (to avoid damaging the equipment) on other pick-up and drop-off days. If given the green light by car owners, staff members inflated the tires of parked cars.

In addition to providing the service for camp families, Eden Village will be inflating tires of guests coming for weekend events and retreats throughout the fall.

This simple act on the Camp’s part will empower both campers and their parents to make small efforts in their lives that go a long way to make for a more sustainable life here on Earth.
